It's hard to believe that the last book haul post that I uploaded on this blog was back in September 2018 😲. These past few years, I have been trying to control my book-buying habit—especially because I lived in a small space after I got married in 2020. In that apartment, I only have one tall bookcase which I mostly use to store my work documents for working from home and no space to add a ton of new books. During those years, I think I only purchased a few physical books that I really really want and survived by reading e-books most of the time. Now that I've moved to a bigger space, I decided to allow myself to purchase more Indonesian books that I've been wanting to read for quite some time 😆. So, without further ado, here are the 11 books that I bought in March & April 2022!
The first one is a book I pre-ordered near the end of February, and it arrived almost two months later in April 😅. This is one of my most anticipated release this year because I've always enjoyed Ika Natassa's writing. Even though this book didn't get a 5-star from me, I still liked the whole story. You can read my full review in the link above to know my thoughts about the book 😊.
To be honest, the cover of this book was the reason why I want to buy it 😆. Yes, I'm still weak against beautiful book covers 😌. The illustration is beautiful and gives me a warm feeling when I look at it. When I searched the book on Goodreads, there are a lot of positive reviews that determined me to purchase it in the end. I will be reading this one soon, so hopefully I'll love it as much as other people do 😊.
The third book has been published since 2020 and has been on my radar ever since. According to some of the reviews that I read, the story involves violence and sexual abuse—which sounds quite intimidating to read but I'm intrigued at the same time. I've actually read a book written by Dian Purnomo in the past, so this will be the second book of hers that I will be reading 🥰.
Next is another book that received great reviews on Goodreads and the minimal yet artistic book cover also caught my attention. The blurb sounds very interesting because it's about marriage life and trying to have a baby—I know for sure that a lot of conflict can come up from those two things 🙈. This book is also relatively short, only 155 pages long, so hopefully I will be able to finish it within a short amount of time.
I've read a LOT of books by Tere Liye in the past. In this blog, I have reviewed 18 of his books—which shows how much I love his writing. This particular book was published in 2016, but I don't remember why I didn't buy it at the time. I finally decided to purchase this book when it was republished with a new cover, which I think is better than the original one. The book is quite thick—over 500 pages long, but knowing Tere Liye's writing, I'm sure I'll be able to devour it quickly.

To be honest, I've always been hesitant to read a book by this author because her last name is very long and hard to read 🙈. But I've been hearing a lot of good things about her book and it was highly recommended to me, so I finally decided to buy these two books immediately. I don't read too much reviews on these books because I want to be surprised and don't want my first impression to be affected by other people's opinions 😆.
I read Keigo Higashino's book for the first time last year and wants to read another book of his in a genre that he's well-known for: mystery. Among all the mystery books that he's written, I decided to read this one first based on other people's recommendations. If I like this one, I might buy more books written by him in the future 🧐.
The last one on this list is a trilogy written by Dee Lestari. I bought this book because the reviews are relatively positive and I've enjoyed the author's writing in the past. I just hope that I will like the first book because it will be a waste of money if I didn't end up reading the rest of the series 🤣. It's definitely a huge commitment to buy all of the books in the series at once 🙈.
We've finally reached the end of this post! Hopefully I will read all of these books within this year instead of just leaving them unread on my bookshelves. I'm really proud of myself for being able to control my book-buying habits these past few years and have been a lot wiser in my spending *I think*😌. Deep down inside, I still have the desire to acquire all the beautiful and interesting books available out there and display them on my bookshelves. But now, I try to focus on buying books that I really want to read and finish reading them before getting more. As always, if you have any book recommendations for me, feel free to share them in the comments below! I'm always on the lookout for great books to read 🤓.
Waaah, udah lama banget ga liat postingan bookhaul disini.
ReplyDeleteBtw, enjoy ur haul Stef! Dan ditunggu review Keigo Higashino nya :)

DeleteAkupun nggak tahan kalau lihat cover gemes. Lemah aku 🤣. Btw, can't wait to read your opinion about all of the books! Esp. Keigo's book karena Kesetiaan Mr.X adalah favoritku dari semua buku Keigo sensei 🙈. Happy reading, Ci!~
