I should give myself a pat on the back for only buying 1 (ONE) book last month. Can you believe it? I even had a hard time believing it myself because it's so unlike me. I don't know whether it's because I was too occupied with other stuff to the point that I didn't have time to shop for books, or am I finally successful in holding my urge to buy new books. Either way, my August book haul contains 5 Indonesian books (+3 e-books); 7 of them I received from the authors and 1 (one) I purchased on my own. I've read 4 of these books and I'm still working on some of the reviews. Okay, so here they are!
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen | Fiction
I acquired this book through a collaboration with Belbuk.com , an online bookstore. I decided to get this book from their website to personally feel the shopping experience so I can share it on my post (which you can read here). To be honest, I know nothing about this book. I got it solely because I was tempted by that beautiful cover. I never read a Jane Austen book before, but who knows, maybe this will be the first.
3 (Tiga) by Alicia Lidwina | Fiction | Book Review
I received this book from the author to be read and reviewed, and it's definitely not what I expected it to be. It's surprisingly very dark and depressing. The author also successfully pulled off the Japanese setting and characters. I've read and reviewed this book, so if you're interested to know more about it, feel free to click the link above ;)
Critical Eleven by Ika Natassa | Fiction | Book Review
So this is the only book that I purchased on my own this month, and I bought it at Gramedia Bookstore. I decided to buy this book because of the crazy hype surrounding it, so I thought I'd have to experience this book myself even though I've never read the author's previous works. Despite my high expectation, I find myself really enjoying this book. It's definitely a page-turner and it's always hard for me to put it down. I have read and reviewed this one as well :) I will definitely be looking forward to Ika Natassa's future works :))
Namaku Subardjo by Hapsari Hanggarini | Fiction
This was quite a surprise because the author/publisher didn't even contact me before they sent this to me. I don't know whether it's the author or the publisher who sent this to me, but either way I'm grateful all the same :)) Not sure what the book is about, but I will definitely be reading and reviewing this soon ;)
You Had Me at Hello by Indah Hanaco | Fiction
I was offered the chance to participate in this book's blog tour and of course I gladly accepted. As I'm writing this post, I'm currently at the beginning of this book and it seems to be a contemporary romance novel. The blog tour will start on 10 September on my blog, so stay tune for my review and also chance to win a copy of this book for free! :)
Irresistible & Love Roulette (Mafia Espresso, #1 & #2) Box Set by Fransisca Todi (ebook) | Fiction
The author contacted me personally and offered me ebook copies for these books. This is the first time I've acquired an Indonesian ebook (all the other ebooks I have are in English). And it kind of feels weird to be reading an Indonesian book on my Kindle. Anyways, I've finished reading this Mafia Espresso duology which is a contemporary romance novels. I'm currently working on the reviews and will be published very soon ;)
And lastly, the author offered a bunch of book bloggers to read an advanced manuscript of a soon-to-be published book. The synopsis sounds pretty intriguing so I decided to accept it. I haven't start reading this yet because I still have to read some books for upcoming blog tours first, but I'm very eager to pick it up very soon :)) Looking forward to the publication date of this book !
Okay, so those are all the books I got in July! Since last month's haul was quite small as well, I'm feeling quite proud for being able to sustain it for two months. Have you read any of the books that I hauled last month? Or have you purchased any interesting book recently? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts below ;)
