-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We are small, but the universe is not. That's how my family hoped to survive the many diverse entities who wanted us dead or worse. As long as we kept moving, our pursuers would have little chance of finding us in the vastness of space. Sooner or later, they'd have to give up."
Alana and Marko are still on the run aboard their rocketship, and in this second volume of Saga the story tells a little bit more about Marko's family and the start of his relationship with Alana. The freelancer, The Will, met Gwendolyn—Marko's ex-fiancéewho came along and join the hunt to find Marko. Both of them managed to save the Slave Girl from Sextillion and found out that she had the power to sense the presence of Marko's ring through Gwendolyn's necklace. On the other hand, Prince Robot IV went to Quietus to find D. Oswald Heistthe author who wrote Alana's favorite book. And with that, the pursuers are getting so much closer to capturing the fugitives.

I am so happy with how the story progressed in the second volume. There's quite a few flashbacks in this book that lets us know some of the background story before Hazel was born. I really like the story of Marko's childhood, in which his parents always reminded him to never forget the evil with wingsthe Landfallians. There's also the story of Alana and Marko's first meeting and how Alana finally came to the decision to free (and escape with) him. These flashbacks enables me to relate more with the characters and also made me understand the whole situation better. So I'm really glad the author decided to reveal this small details which I think gives depth to the story :))
"Some people are haunted by their pasts, but not my family. I mean, how can you be haunted by something that never really dies?"
The highlight of this volume for me is probably the appearance of Gwendolyn; because I really didn't expect Marko's ex-fiancée to show up in the story. That's a nice surprise, though. I'm really excited to see how awkward it's going to be when Gwendolyn is finally reunited with Marko. I'm also quite surprised at the sudden change in Slave Girl's character. I thought she was nice and innocent until she turned creepy. And I absolutely love the ending of this volume; the intensity of it makes me want to directly pick up the third volume! Such a nice twist. I really like how it was revealed :)))

New characters are added into the story in this second volume, and I find myself loving more characters as well. In this book, my favorite character is Barr—Marko's father. He's so cute and adorable! And he makes clothes too! I love the outfit that he makes for Hazel. In the narration, Hazel mentioned that she still keeps the scrap from the clothes that Barr made from that time and uses it as a bookmark. I really makes me wonder at what age Hazel is telling this story at. Anyways, I also really like Gwendolyn, she's definitely a strong character and I'm looking forward to see what she'll do next.

This volume is a journey that's full of emotions; there's a sweet romance, intensity, funny moments, yet also sad ones. I'm definitely enjoying this book better than the first volume because I'm already invested in the characters and the storyline. I really have no idea what to expect of the next volume but I hope it'll be a great one. I would love to see more twists in the storyline ;) And just like my review for the first volume, I couldn't resist displaying the beautiful single issue covers in this post. My favorite is the cover for Chapter Eleven with Barr on it ♥
