This week's Top 10 Tuesday is a freebie, so we're allowed to choose our own topic to list. A few weeks ago I posted my Top Ten All Time Favorite Authors, which included my favorite international authors. That's why this week, I'm going to list my Top Ten All Time Favorite Indonesian Authors; because I do read more Indonesian/local books than English books. Most of these authors I've read from several years ago, even since I was still in school. And even though I don't always rate their books 5/5, I've always loved their writing styles and will read anything they write :) So here's the list in no particular order!
Orizuka
She's definitely one of my auto-buy authors, and I fell in love with her writing since around 2008. Orizuka is capable of writing heartfelt, compelling stories, but also able to write really funny ones that always managed to make me laugh. Some of her books also involved characters that are Korean—which is totally my thing, btw. I've read almost all of her books and I do hope she will keep writing for a very long time. I reviewed a lot of her books on this blog ↓↓↓↓

Tere Liye
Despite the misleading pen-name, Tere Liye is actually a man. The first time I read his book, I thought otherwise. I'm currently in progress of reading all of his books (because I do already have them in my bookshelf), but I think I've read a decent amount to gave him the title of my all-time favorite author. I always love how I get to learn something as I'm reading his book; whether it's about life, social reality, or just human beings in general. I love the variety in his books; sometimes he writes about romance, at other times about family, action novels, and even fantasy. Even though I don't always love all his books, I always ended up pre-ordering every single time because I'm eager to find out what he has to offer next :))

Windry Ramadhina
What I love the most about this author is how she always writes so beautifully. I can't really describe it well, but somehow her writing felt soothing to me. I don't know if it's just me or are there other people who felt the same way. Anyway, I'm always looking forward to her new books; because then I can devour the words she molds into a beautiful story.

Donny Dhirgantoro
THIS author. He only published two books so far, but these two books has left a very deep impression in me. Even though I've only read his two books so far, no doubt he's one of my all-time favorite Indonesian authors. His second book, 2, is a compelling and inspirational story which managed to make me both laugh and cry. And an author who's able to stir my emotions so incredibly well definitely deserves to be on this list :) I know there are some people who doesn't love his books as much as I did, but I do really really admire his works. I hope he'll publish a new book soon! I need more of his books on my bookshelf! <3

Ilana Tan
A lot of readers call this author 'mysterious', because no one really knows her identity. Well, I'm assuming Ilana Tan is a female author, judging from her name. I've loved her books since the seasons tetralogy series, especially because the first one is set in South Korea (again). I'm not really sure what I love most about her books, but I guess it's probably because almost all of her books are a page-turner—that always kept me up at night reading.
Sunshine Becomes You by Ilana Tan
Seasons to Remember by Ilana Tan
Autumn Once More by Ilana Tan, dkk.
In a Blue Moon by Ilana Tan
Winna Efendi
Another author that I've read since 2008, and I think I've read almost all of her published books. And again, I enjoyed the way she write stories—even though I'm not always satisfied with the plot. I'm always anticipating her books just so I can enjoy her writing :)

Truth or Dare by Winna Efendi & Yoana Dianika
Melbourne: Rewind by Winna Efendi
Tomodachi (School, #2) by Winna Efendi
Happily Ever After by Winna Efendi
Sefryana Khairil
Although I have ups and downs with this author, sometimes I love it, sometimes it's just okay, but I can say that's she's one of my favorite authors. Or should I say, she's definitely one of my auto-buy authors. I always enjoyed her writing, and there are times when she's able to play with my emotions as well. Definitely hoping to read more of her works soon :))

Coba Tunjuk Satu Bintang by Sefryana Khairil
Tokyo: Falling by Sefryana Khairil
Dee "Dewi Lestari"
Most of the books I've read by her are short stories collection, and I really really enjoyed them. It's very difficult for me to like short stories, because I feel like there's not much development that can happen within such a short time. But her short stories are left a deep impression in me. Her novel that I've read, Perahu Kertas, was also a great read—it was even adapted into a movie. She also wrote a popular series called Supernova, which I need to start reading very soon!
Perahu Kertas by Dee
Filosofi Kopi by Dee
Prisca Primasari
Yet another author who writes beautifully, in my opinion anyway. I feel like I'm always lulled by her writing and the sweetness of the stories she write. The plot always flowed really nicely and it was able to engage me with the story emotionally. I'm always looking forward to read her new books as well :))

Kastil Es & Air Mancur yang Berdansa by Prisca Primasari

Evergreen by Prisca Primasari
Priceless Moment by Prisca Primasari
Christian Simamora
I don't read a lot of books with hot-and-steamy romance in it, but when I do, it's Christian Simamora's books. He's currently writing the #JBoyfriend series; in which he writes a series of books with male characters whose names starts with J. I'm not really into hot-and-steamy novels, but I love how this author writes—his writing is so unique, carefree, and distinctive. He's great at building the chemistry between the two main characters. Even though most of his books are predictable, it's always fun to read them.
Good Fight by Christian Simamora
With You (Sehari Bersamamu) by Christian Simamora & Orizuka
All You Can Eat by Christian Simamora
Guilty Pleasure by Christian Simamora
Come on Over (CO2) by Christian Simamora
As Seen on TV by Christian Simamora
To be completely honest, it was quite difficult for me to pick ten authors because these days I'm not that adventurous with Indonesian/local books. I only read books by authors whom I trust and know that I will enjoy. I might talk about the reason why in another post if I have the time. Anyways, do you have any favorite local authors from your country? Feel free to share them in the comments below, or you can also share your Top Ten Tuesday links so I can check it out ;) Okay, that's it for now! Bye!
Kebanyakan penulis gagas ya ^^
ReplyDeleteAku paling suka Prisca Primasari… tulisan dia memang 'cantik' banget :))
Salam kenal ya :)
Bener juga ya, ngga nyadar xD Salam kenal juga! ;)
DeleteI love Dee too! Aduh Stef, kamu harus banget baca Supernova series itu. Tapi mungkin tunggu taon depan aja. Tunggu buku terakhirnya uda terbit, jadi engga digantung semacam diriku. :'D You'll love this series (well..or maybe hate it. :D) Aku juga suka Ika Natassa. Bukunya sih tipikal banget ceritanya, tapi entah gimana, aku selalu terpikat sama tokoh cowo dari buku dia. Yang terakhir, aku suka Sitta Karina. Hanafiah seriesnya bikin klepek-klepek banget.
ReplyDeleteAkkk! Jadi tambah ngga sabar buat bacaa :DD Iya aku emang selalu nunggu sampe seri-nya tamat baru mau mulai baca, biar ngga nggantung xD Aku dulu juga suka banget sama tulisannya Sitta Karina, tapi tulisannya yang belakangan aku kurang sukaa :((
DeleteTere Liye dan Orizuka saua suka, ChrisMor emmmm
ReplyDeleteYang lain belum coba baca
Hahaha kalo ChrisMor kayaknya emg lebih bacaan cewek mgkn ya? :D
ReplyDeleteSetujuuu :))) Ngga kerasa aneh ceritanya meskipun kalimatnya baku kayak terjemahan :D
DeleteI love finding new authors, and there are definitely some here that I cannot wait to read. Thank you so much for sharing. (plus some of those covers are absolutely gorgeous!)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Thank you! Yes they're indeed gorgeous covers :D
DeleteI have so many favorite authors and, like you, it's hard for me to go with new authors. I try to stick with those I know and know that I will enjoy. Although I do occasionally branch out and try new ones and enjoy them too.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday is here.
Totally agree with you on that one! Sometimes I also risk trying out new authors and turns out loving their books :))
DeleteDee! Tapi yang diatas semua emang keren2 sih
ReplyDeleteYayy setujuu :D
DeleteI'm not going to lie, I have no idea when it comes to Indonesian authors but I really like that you chose a topic so different to all the other ones I have read today! Firstly I've got to say, all of these covers are beautiful! I really want to frame some of them and put them on my bedroom wall! I really like the look of Infinitely Yours, defiantly looks like something that I would read. great list, happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteYes these covers are indeed beautiful :D Thanks for visiting!
DeleteMy absolute fave indo author is aliazalea. She is the best. and I like Christian Simamora and Ilana Tan too, and Ika Natassa, Retni SB, and Dahlian I thought I will see Dahlian on your list hehehe
ReplyDeleteSadly I've never read a book by aliazalea :( There are so many great Indonesian authors that I've yet to read. Dahlian almost made it to the list, but I didn't read that many books by her.
DeleteOrizuka, Windry, Prisca, Chrismor, dan Winna... mereka juga auto-bookbuy authorku. xD Selera kita mirip-mirip, ya kayaknya (based on our favorite author only). Aku belom pernah baca bukunya Tere-Liye dan Sefryana, tapi aku udah beli Tokyo dan masih di timbunan. Kalau bukunya Tere-Liye, mana yang kamu rekomendasikan buat aku baca?
ReplyDeleteKalo bukunya Tere-Liye ngga semuanya romance sih jadi bingung mau rekomen yg mana xD Mungkin Sunset Bersama Rosie? :D
DeleteAku juga suka yang bertema keluarga, kok. :D
