So this is going to be a really short and brief review, because it's only a novella - but I really want to write down what I thought about it. First of all, I am so thankful that Gayle Forman decided to write this. Just One Year was such a disappointment for me, because I didn't get what I've been looking forward to since I finished the first book, Just One Day. I was so thrilled when I found out about this novella, and was even more excited when it's finally out! Thankfully, this companion eased my disappointment with Just One Year - because I am extremely satisfied with it.

"He would like to kick himself. This girl he has not seen in a year, this girl he's thought about, dreamed about, looked for, for a year, this girl he just kissed (he's still a bit dazed from that kiss)... and his first words to her are those of a waiter."

The story continues right after the ending of Just One Year, when they finally meet again after a long year of rediscovering themselves and trying hard to track each other down. Right at the very first page, Willem and Allyson is bursting with chemistry. I was squealing inside, and most definitely cannot contain the feels - because THIS is what I've been waiting for! Oh my God YES. And the story continues with the two of them gathering with their friends. Willem's friends are in absolute awe of the 'accidents' that has happened to Willem and Allyson - and how they could find each other again.

This novella concludes everything so very beautifully, and I love Gayle Forman so much now (although I do always love her writing, but this novella just makes me want to hug her). The story relates the appearance of Allyson at Willem's door to the story of Willem's parents; and how both Willem and Allyson remembered all the small details from their 'one day' a year ago in Paris. I also love when Willem's friends backtrack on Willem's journey to find Allyson - and then they realized both have been in the same place but didn't get to find each other. They realized how it's all about the perfect timing to find each other, and I'm nodding with agreement at this perfection ;____;

Another thing that I love in this novella is the Shakespeare part. Gosh, I didn't even care about the whole Shakespeare thing when I read Just One Year; because I don't really know much about Shakespeare and the plays. But the lines of Orlando played by Willem as if he's saying it straight to Allyson just gives me all the feels (again). Absolutely beautiful writing. I would say it again and again if I could.

"The little strength that I have, I would it were with you".
She is his Mountain Girl.
"What would you say to me now, an I were your very very Rosalind?"
No more pretending. Because he knows. She knows.
"Fair youth, I would I could make thee believe I love."
She believes. They both do.
"I would kiss before I spoke."
The line is a kiss. Their kiss.
"For ever and a day."
For ever and a day.

Okay, I think I've spoiled this short novella pretty much already - so I'll stop, because there's still the ending that I don't want to spoil. The reason I gave 4.5/5 rating is because there are some parts that I don't get - only because I can't remember all the details of Just One Day (which I read more than a year ago). But other than that, I am fully satisfied with this companion and all the disappointments I had with Just One Year are all swiped away.
