I don't really do Top 10 Tuesday (because I've decided to do Top 5 Wednesday instead), but I really enjoy reading them on other book-blogs that I followed. I discovered this week's topic from The Broke and The Bookish and Pure Imagination; and I finally decided to join in this week because it's talking about book covers! Which is probably one of the best things about books. I probably said this so many times, but book covers can lure me into buying it without reading the synopsis. So I am really excited to choose my top ten book covers that I'd frame as pieces of art :)) (Although I'm sorry it's Thursday and not Tuesday). *I haven't read most of these books; I chose them only because they have stunning covers.
10. Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley9. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
At number 10 is a book I recently purchased (not only because of the hype all around, but also because of the book cover!), and I absolutely love the typographic elements in this cover. And I love the colors! Somehow it kind of reminds me of The Fault in Our Stars. At number 9, is a book that always intimidated me; because I haven't read it until now even though I already have it for a very long time. What makes me love this cover is the color! I think it would be lovely to hang this cover on my bedroom wall; gives my black-and-white room a striking touch of color. I also love how the dragon intertwined with the lettering. ♥
8. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon7. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
Number 8 is one of my favorite books, and the cover is poster-worthy! I would love to print it, frame it, and have it on my desktop. The tone of the cover is gloomy (which represents night-time), but it looks cute at the same time. And number 7 is a very eye-catching book cover; using bright colors and letters that seem to hang from above. Super cute!
6. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern5. The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway
Number 6 is so dreamy; it illustrates perfectly the word 'Night Circus'. The cover is actually pretty simple; with few illustrations, colors, and ornaments, but it looks super beautiful. As for number 5, what makes me love it most is the color! Teal is one of my many favorite colors; it's just so pretty and it matches very well with the grungy-creamy-white background. Amazing illustration!
4. The Lost Letters of Brother Gabriel by Bree Despain3. Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt
Number 4 got this spot because of that beautiful gradient color of sunset. It's a shade of purple-red-orange, which is so stunning on black background. It's dark and elegant at the same time. Wonderful artwork! Number 3 looks more like a typography artwork rather than a book cover; and since I'm a sucker for typography, this book cover deserves to be on this spot. Love the color, ornaments, illustration, and the typeface on this cover.
2. Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2) by Leigh Bardugo 1. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
And lastly. Do I even need to say how beautiful these book covers are? These are probably the most beautiful covers I have ever seen in my life. EVER. And that definitely says a lot - because I've seen hundreds of book covers. Number 2 combines the dragon illustration with the blackletter typeface - which is superb. I love the illustration on the background; as well as the stunning color combination. Number 1 is going to be my favorite book covers of all time! I absolutely love the hand-drawn lettering on the cover, as well as the illustrations surrounding it. This cover is dreamy and makes me feel like starring into space. Best best best! Can I get a poster for this, please?
Those are my choices; and I had tons of fun choosing it amongst the books in my Goodreads shelf.
I also had much fun looking at others' preferences, because everyone definitely have different likings. The majority of my choices are based on the typographic elements (yes, because I'm such a typography-geek). And feel free to make your own post of book cover choices ;)
Bye!
