How I Read Tag

.

So I was planning to do this tag since I read a post at Kubikel Romance, but it's been hard to find a spare time this week because I was facing difficulties with my thesis ;___; - thanks to God I get to overcome that obstacle. And only now do I get to do this fun tag, which consists of several questions related to 'How I Read'. Since my reading pace slowed down a lot due to my thesis, I've decided that I would do a lot of non-review stuff on this blog - and it's also fun for me to do. Without further delay, here are the questions along with my answers ;)

 1. How do you find new books to read?
Firstly, through online book-shops. I subscribed to http://pengenbuku.net/ to receive updates on new released books - so when I see my favorite authors released a new book, I quickly plan on buying it.
Another way is through Goodreads. I'm sure most of all readers know Goodreads, and I can see what other people are reading, how they rate the book, and sometimes I gained interest on those books as well.
I also find new books by browsing in the bookstore. When I get the chance to visit a bookstore, I take my time looking around the shelves (especially on genres I usually prefer). These days I don't quickly take a book to the cashier when I see an interesting one (because I'm still trying hard to choose my books more wisely). I usually scan the book's barcode through Goodreads and quickly see the ratings and some reviews. It helps me decide if the book is good enough to buy or not.
Lastly, will be through other people's recommendations/reads. I followed a lot of book-bloggers (most are BBI members), and it's really fun to see what they're reading and their opinion on a book they read. This also sparks my interest and curiosity to read it :)
2. How did you get into reading?
I don't really know exactly how it started, but I remembered loving comic/manga books when I was in elementary school (probably around 5th grade). Back in those days comic books are still pretty cheap (unlike now), and I also started reading teenlit books & novels along the way. In middle school we also had this 'reading time' called DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) for 15 minutes before break time, which is always my favorite time of the day - even when all my friends are dozing off while holding their books. So  I guess at that point I found out how much I love and enjoy reading. There's also a read-along session in English class; my teacher will choose an English book that needs to be read for the semester. I absolutely love it - especially when the book is amazing. Anyway, my mother is also a book-hoarder; and it seems it also runs in my blood.

3. How has your taste in books changed since you've gotten older?
Totally changed! And it feels weird to look back at it right now. These days I never bought any more comic/manga books, and I gave most of my manga collection away to my cousin who's still in high school. I also don't read teenlit books much, because the last time I read one, I feel like I couldn't really sympathize to the conflicts (?) - probably because I'm too old for it (though I still read several which are written by my favorite authors). However, if a book is well-written, no matter the genre I think I can always enjoy it (even a children book).
4. How often do you buy books?
Too often.... to the point that sometimes I regret my impulsive buys after seeing my TBR pile. These days, I'm trying hard to restrain my book-shopping habit, because I wanted to be more thrifty (especially since I've got myself a Kindle the other day). Before this resolution, I frequently visit a bookstore, shop through online bookstore, and got myself around 5-10 new books each month. Recently, I got myself only around 2-3 books a month, which is a change I'm quite proud of. Well, no doubt I'm still struggling with this resolution (forever, maybe), but I'm trying my best.
5. How did you get into book-blogging?
I briefly wrote about this in the About & Contact Me page; it all just started as my friend made a blog herself and urged me to also create one myself. After a long thinking, I've decided to make a blog filled with my reviews on the book I read. It started becoming a habit as I entered BBI (Blogger Buku Indonesia) - and this blog finally becomes what it is today :)
6. How do you react when you don't like the end of a book?
I would be pissed off and if I have the time I would directly rant about it in my book review. Sometimes I also mistreated the book after finishing it, like throwing it on the table instead of putting it away nicely. ㅋㅋㅋ But that feeling doesn't really last long, because I forget quickly.
7. How often have you taken a sneaky look at the back of the page to see if it's a happy ending?
Hardly ever. Because I did it once, and I totally regretted it because it just spoil the whole reading experience. And I'm also not the type of reader who gets disappointed with an unhappy ending, as long as the story makes sense and is still enjoyable to read.
8. How many people are you going to tag, and who are they?
Anyone who has the time to answer these questions! ♥♥
