Book Kaleidoscope 2013: Top Five New Favorite Authors

So today is Day 4 of Book Kaleidoscope 2013 hosted by Fanda @ Fanda Classiclit, and this time we are free to choose our own criteria. I was actually quite confused, and so I blog-walked through some of the bloggers who have joined in this event. I decided to list the Top 5 New Favorite Authors this month. They don't have to be a completely new author who just debuted, but it's the first time for me to read these authors' books. If they released a new book, I'll be sure to quickly grab it :)) So here's my list of new favorite authors from 2013 :))

David Levithan

David Levithan (born 1972) is an American children's book editor and award-winning author. He published his first YA book, Boy Meets Boy, in 2003. Levithan is also the founding editor of PUSH, a Young Adult imprint of Scholastic Press.

Amanda Inez

Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Amanda moved to Toronto, Canada in pursuing her college degree. As an accounting student, she loves doing things that are not accounting-related, such as: sports, music, writing, traveling and volunteering.

Beauty Sleep (published June 2013 by GagasMedia) is her first ever-published novel.

John Green

John Green's first novel, Looking for Alaska, won the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award presented by the American Library Association. His second novel, An Abundance of Katherines, was a 2007 Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. His next novel, Paper Towns, is a New York Times bestseller and won the Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best YA Mystery. In January 2012, his most recent novel, The Fault in Our Stars, was met with wide critical acclaim, unprecedented in Green's career. The praise included rave reviews in Time Magazine and The New York Times, on NPR, and from award-winning author Markus Zusak. The book also topped the New York Times Children's Paperback Bestseller list for several weeks. Green has also coauthored a book with David Levithan called Will Grayson, Will Grayson, published in 2010. The film rights for all his books, with the exception of Will Grayson Will Grayson, have been optioned to major Hollywood Studios.

Veronica Roth

Veronica Roth is from a Chicago suburb. She studied creative writing at Northwestern University, and wrote DIVERGENT (Katherine Tegen Books, May 2011) and INSURGENT (May 2012). The third and final book in The Divergent Trilogy, ALLEGIANT, will come out on October 22, 2013. In the meantime she will spend endless hours browsing Wikipedia in her pajamas as she eats corn flakes. (Or some other kind of bland breakfast cereal.)
