Book Kaleidoscope 2013: Top Five Best Book Covers

It's Day 3 of Book Kaleidoscope 2013 hosted by Fanda @ Fanda Classiclit! This category is probably my favorite, because I cannot deny the charm of beautiful book covers. There are many times when I bought a book just because the cover is so pretty; although I don't know will the story be good or not. And I am always very happy when I bring a book with nice cover to read in public. Fortunately, there are only a few book covers that I love from this year's read. So here's the list of my favorite book covers this year in no particular order! Read my last year's favorite here.

The Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano

I love the simplicity on this book cover design. The green color really pops amidst the gray and black color. I think the two peas represents the two main characters; and one of the main reason I bought this book is because of its' beautiful cover. Thankfully the content was very satisfying.

Jika by Alanda Kariza, Gita Romadhona, dkk.

  This book cover is designed by my favorite designer Jeffri Fernando! He definitely never disappoints me with his book cover designs. The title of this book, Jika, can be read upside down, and when you flip the book, there's an image of a long highway road with the sun shining in the background. But even when I look at it this way, it's still as beautiful. Wonderful work!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
It's the third time I mentioned this book for Book Kaleidoscope 2013; I guess it shows how much I love this book so I'm a bit biased xD. But this book indeed has an eye-catching cover; with bright-blue as the background and the black-and-white clouds. I also love the chalk writing in the cover. It's just really nice to look at.

Pasung Jiwa by Okky Madasari

I fell in love with the cover when I finally understand the story and know the meaning behind that scary-looking cover. The illustration definitely portrays the content of the story very well; and I missed the important details when I saw it for the first time. The book cover left a deep impression in me, so I'm putting this book cover on my favorite list :))

Divergent by Veronica Roth
Lastly, the award goes to Divergent series; but I actually love the first book cover most. When I haven't read this series yet, I always question the meaning behind the book cover - and also the circle of fire (?). But after I finished reading, that symbol is something very important to me; the icon of Dauntless. While in Insurgent, the book cover uses the icon of Amity.
