The question for today's challenge is a question you could ask to any book-bloggers out there. "Why do you blog about books?". It's actually a question I've never thought of before, because I sort of 'accidentally' became a book-blogger. So I guess this is a good opportunity to really think about why I blog about books. Do you have a specific reason why you blog about books - or made a blog in the first place? Share your own reasons in the comments or join this challenge here.
As I've said earlier, I 'accidentally' became a blogger in the first place. I was never interested in blogging before, because I thought it would be a hassle. But then my good friend in college, Ivonna, started her blog on her k-pop addictions (visit the blog here). At the time she encouraged me to start my own blog as well. So I spent the day thinking what blog I wanted to make. I was seriously tempted in making a k-pop blog as well, but then I think I can talk more about books. Back then, I only write short-reviews in goodreads, and I wanted this blog to be a place for me to write decent book-reviews and also talks about books in general. This was my first post in this blog.
Why blog about books? Firstly, of course, because I love books and reading and writing. I enjoyed writing since I was in elementary school, so writing book reviews is not a burden but it's something I like to do. I also have terrible memory; few weeks after I'm finished with a book, I gradually forgets the story (although I might still remember the overall plot roughly). And I think writing a book review will help remind me about my opinions/thoughts about the book.
Secondly, I blog about books and write book review because I think reviews are useful for others too. As a reader, I frequently visit goodreads and book bloggers to see their opinion about a book. It really helps me to decide whether I want to read it or not. And I also want my reviews to help people that way through my opinions.
Getting review requests and sponsored books from publishers are bonuses I got from book-blogging. I didn't start book-blogging because I wanted to get free books; I didn't even know it could happen it the first place. And so it's a pleasant surprise when that happens to me :) Aside from that, having new friends through book-blogging is also another bonus for me! I'm actually a person who doesn't make friends that much, so I'm happy to know a lot of new people :)) I always hope that my love for book-blogging (including writing reviews, and such) can be useful for others. Even better, I hope I can encourage people to read more! ;)
I always think you should just blog about the things you love, shouldn't really matter on anyone else s opinion of it. I think its great that you are able to express your opinion about the blogs you read for others to enjoy!
