PEETTTAAAAA!!!
there goes my first reaction after i'm finished with Catching Fire. the story satisfy me so much to the point that i became attached with this series, even though the ending of the second book somewhat makes me sad :( but i'm hoping things will get better in the third and final book. i am very thankful that there's the 75th Hunger Games in Catching Fire. i was afraid the story would get boring without the Games being involved, but my worries are useless. the book is TOTALLY, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. the story is still full of surprises and secrets; which makes everything feels a whole lot more thrilling. it's just sad, i have come to like Peeta very much but then the end... *no spoiling* :P so here's the review :)
-----
the journey continues. Katniss and Peeta, both are victors from the 74th Hunger Games. but things doesn't stop there, because President Snow, the head of the Capitol, feels he's being played at by Katniss. even worse, Katniss act looks rebellious and even causes uprising from the citizens of Panem. many people have been using her Mockingjay token as a symbol of rebellion. Katniss has to protect her loved ones from being tortured by President Snow, and so she has to continue her loveline with Peeta; leaving Gale somewhat broken hearted.
Katniss has followed everything President Snow ordered her to do, which includes being engaged to Peeta. but all the things she did does not seem enough for the evil President Snow. and then there's also rumors from rebels about the existence of District 13; the district which was known to be destroyed already during the Dark Days. there are people planning to run away from their districts and escaping to District 13. at that point, Katniss doesn't believe any of it.
things got worse, when it's time for the 75th Hunger Games, the 3rd Quarter Quell. the Quarter Quell is held every 25 years, which have a little more touch than the ordinary Hunger Games. Quoting President Snow's speech, here's a definition to what the 3rd Quarter Quell is:
"On the seventy-fifth anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that even the strongest among them cannot overcome the power of the Capitol, the male and female tributes will be reaped from their existing pool of victors."
which means, Katniss and Peeta will be going back into the arena.
*i am actually very happy about this, because the Games is justso exciting, but i know it's absolutely bad news to both Katniss and Peeta.*
but this year Games won't be the same. everyone in the arena are victors, which means they know well how to survive. and some are even older than they are, with plenty more experiences and knowledge.
this year, will Katniss and Peeta somehow survives?
i'll stop writing now before i start spoiling things. :X that is the point where the mysterious little secrets starts popping out. for those who are planning to read this, ready yourself for plenty of surprises. Suzanne Collins sure knows how to make unexpected things appear out of nowhere :)
i absolutely love the second book as much i love the first one. and because of this book, i've come to like Peeta really much. he's such a sweet and loving person. Katniss is so lucky. *envy*
there's one more interesting character in the book: Finnick from District 4. he's described as this really beautiful and good-looking guy; which makes me curious, is he better looking than Cato from District 2? anyway, there are many surprising characters revelation in this book; which makes me love this series much much more than before.
